Why I became an insurance broker

 

I have spent my entire career, in one capacity or another, helping people. Every successful business I have owned was rooted in helping others. My last business, before I had to stop working in 2015 due to illness, was centered around helping people find employment. 

 

My personal journey back to managable health has given me a unique, and valuable learning experience. While on this long journey, I experienced both the best, and worst, of the healthcare and insurance industries.  While I still have a rare disease, I am able to better manage it, and the symptoms. With help from my doctors, I was able to return to work after 9 years. 

 

Those 9 years without an income were tough! Most of my savings spent on copays, out of network providers, prescriptions not covered by insurance, or barely covered by health insurance. Life insurance policies I had in place to help save my money for the future (annuities, IUL's and term life policies), saved my family from going completely broke.  

 

When deciding what to do for my final career, to me, the answer was very clear. I should be helping people understand how to use insurance the way I have to keep my bills paid. It took me 6 weeks to study for the insurance exam, and pass on the first try in May of 2024.  I look forward to helping as many as I can to get out of debt, create a nestegg and put plans in place to secure your family assets.
